Born 1982 in Offenburg, Germany, Johannes Mundinger studied in Münster and Brussels. His work often refers to it´s certain environment or certrain places: dealing with historical context or social issues in the neighborhood – or playing aesthetically with given elements or atmospeheres, that are used as a base from where the motive is developed. Mundingers work has been shown by numerous institutions and galleries, the Museum Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven, the Jewish Museum Cracow or the Freiburger Kunstverein. He held his first institutional solo exhbition at Kunstverein Offenburg, last year. Together with Sophia Hirsch he was awarded the jury price of the Berliner Kunstverein, in 2013.
He was invited as artist in residence to Israel, Korea or Serbia. His murals can be found in many European cities but also in Mexico City, Jerusalem or Saint Petersburg. Since 2012 he is resident artist at Urban Spree Galerie, Berlin.
